Tell us about yourself and how you joined Agilytic.
I have a computer science background from university and also played professional basketball at the same time. I joined Agilytic about six months ago because I wanted to use my technical skills while learning the business side of data projects. It felt like the perfect environment to blend both worlds.
What was your onboarding experience like?
It was heavy on content but very helpful and well-structured. Agilytic has what they call “skill sprints” to bring newcomers up to speed quickly. There’s a lot to absorb—new tools, new workflows—but there’s always someone willing to help or a dedicated course available. Even if you already know certain technologies, seeing them from Agilytic’s perspective can be eye-opening.
What stands out about Agilytic’s way of working?
Ownership is the most noticeable aspect. You’re quickly faced with decisions that can have a big impact on a project, and Agilytic expects you to step up—whether you’re junior or not. It can be scary, but it’s also extremely rewarding. If you succeed, you get the credit. If something goes wrong, you learn from it and make sure it doesn’t happen again.
Which project or achievement are you most proud of so far?
I’m currently working on a project aimed at reducing empty kilometers in truck transportation. It has a direct effect on cutting costs for the client and lowering CO₂ emissions. It’s exciting to see how the work we do translates into real, tangible outcomes.
How would you describe the learning curve during your first few months?
Thanks to the skill sprints and the support from seniors, the learning curve wasn’t as steep as I initially feared. There’s always someone to guide you if you’re stuck, but it’s on you to be proactive and ask for help. If you just stay silent, people will assume everything is going smoothly.
What skills have you developed the most?
Definitely business acumen. I come from a more technical background, so I’ve had to learn how to view problems from a client’s perspective—balancing technical excellence with real business value. Communicating complex ideas in a straightforward way is crucial here.
How would you describe the team culture and communication at Agilytic?
We probably over-communicate, but that’s far better than the alternative. If an extra 30 minutes of discussion each week prevents a project from going off track for two weeks, it’s totally worth it. Everyone stays aligned, and there’s a genuine sense that your teammates want you to succeed.
What about work-life balance?
For me, it has been very good. You do need some flexibility because it’s an entrepreneurial environment, but there’s no toxic expectation of constant availability. People respect each other’s time and outside commitments.
How does Agilytic support career growth?
Effort is definitely recognized. If you want to go the extra mile, there are opportunities to take on more responsibility. If you ever need to take a step back, you’re not penalized for it. There’s a lot of freedom in how you shape your role, and there are multiple paths you can explore as you grow.
Any advice for someone joining Agilytic as a junior Data Scientist?
Be prepared to be uncomfortable in a good way. You’ll face new challenges and make decisions that push you to grow quickly. Also, communicate—if you’re stuck, reach out. The help is there, but nobody knows you need it unless you say so.
Final thoughts on the culture?
Everything stated in the Agilytic Playbook rings true in day-to-day work. The emphasis on ownership, learning from mistakes, and genuine collaboration makes it a place where you can thrive both technically and personally. I highly recommend it to anyone curious about data science consulting.
