Improving customer conversion with a defined data roadmap in banking

Gaps in data capture, documentation, and transformation can quickly escalate into significant data quality challenges, hindering strategic decision-making. A leading bank found itself grappling with this reality, uncertain how to prioritize data initiatives or effectively leverage its vast commercial data to expand its client base through numerous partnerships. Recognizing the need for expert guidance, they asked Agilytic to develop a clear data roadmap, one that could consolidate the needs of diverse departments, alleviate operational frustrations, and ultimately execute their data-driven vision.

Context & Objectives

Gaps in data capture, data documentation and data transformation have the potential to, in time, spiral into a severe data quality problem.

A leading bank was seeking a clearer understanding of how to prioritize data projects or how to utilize a vast amount of commercial data to their advantage. They eventually identified the need to partner with an expert in data management.

With a vast number of partnerships, the bank was looking to build their client base. We set out to establish a data roadmap to meet the needs of each department, alleviate their frustrations, and execute their vision.

Approach

Initially, Agilytic’s experts met with the bank’s critical stakeholders across ten departments. This assessed and identified the highest-impact needs.

This meeting concluded with insights from marketing, finance, customer relations, IT, sales, and post-sales teams to see how we could develop and leverage a complete picture of commercial data in the data roadmap. Next, we worked to consolidate the needs and iterated different versions of the data roadmap with the bank’s data model manager.

We then consolidated all data needs collected through interviews in an Excel deliverable, before grouping and prioritizing these requests based on the immediate impact they could have in converting cooperators to customers.

And finally, we identified three reports to prioritize for this data infrastructure in the short term. We suggested a data architecture to meet the bank’s needs and support future reporting requirements.

Results

In just 20 days, the bank saw a considerable improvement in its approach and prioritization of data projects since adopting the roadmap’s insights.

Now, there is clarity on the current data management situation. With a comprehensive outlook, concrete data projects can be launched with an accurate estimation of impact and effort required, thus saving the client’s teams countless planning hours in advance of each project.
